Upon checking the Lake Erie forecast while in Erie, the determination was made to take advantage of favourable winds and weather and take a big bite out of Lake Erie and shoot for Pelee Island. After 22 hours we are now moored at the municipal dock on the North end of Pelee Island. The trip involved some motor sailing through the light spots, but did included an extended spinnaker run, and a beautiful, warm night sail into Pelee.

| Hard to complain |

The East end of the lake was devoid of everything but fishing craft, and as the day wore one, we passed hundreds of anglers, some of them many miles off shore. Not a single sailboat or freighter. On into the evening, they went back ashore to enjoy their catches, and the lake was once again ours. For most of the evening we could not see land nor vessel until we reached Pelee Passage light where all the shipping lanes converge. We had freighters coming at us from all directions while we kept a steady pace of 7 knots. As we passed the light (a strange looking structure to see in the moon light) we pull out the million candle power spot light to take a better look, and suddenly came under fire. Pop, pop ...pop .... I asked ask John "Shine it again" to which a quick response came ... "Not on your life" .... in retrospect, it may have been a bird deterrent of some sort.

| Sunrise as we come to the dock |
We plan on take the day to rest ourselves, explore the island, the winery, and maybe the abandoned lighthouse before the next leg of our journey.
